Cha Tae Hyun Worried Over Kim Yoo Jung’s Controversy

Actor-comedian Cha Tae Hyun defended his "Because I Love You" co-star Kim Yoo Jung and worried that she might be hurt from her recent controversy.

The 40-year-old "My Sassy Girl" actor shared his thoughts in a recent interview on the controversy surrounding his young co-star.

"I heard [about it] that day," allkpop quoted Cha Tae Hyun as saying. "I think she stood like that for just a moment, and they caught it and uploaded it."

He even joked, "To be honest, I think my posture was worse."

The actor also hinted that he hasn't been in touch with his co-star since the event.

"I don't know her number, so I can't contact her," he said. "I didn't ask for her information since she's in high school. We're having a 'V' app broadcast on Wednesday for the movie. I'm worried she's feeling hurt."

The controversy started after videos and photos that captured Kim Yoo Jung's seemingly rude behavior during a promotion event for "Because I Love You" went viral.

Netizens criticized the 17-year-old "Love in the Moonlight" actress and disapproved her posture on stage. She was caught leaning on one leg and not paying full attention to her surroundings and looked more interested to play around with her hands and nails.

The movie's promotion company also revealed that Kim Yoo Jung was rushed to the emergency room due to fatigue and cancelled an interview scheduled last Thursday. Some netizens didn't buy this and thought that this was only a way for the actress to avoid the fiasco.

Cha Tae Hyun may have gone to his co-star's defense yet he also thought she shouldn't have canceled.

"But it was wrong [of her] to cancel her interview [afterward]. I do understand why, but it's still saddening," he said.

Kim Yoo Jung made her first public appearance since the controversy Monday and joined her co-stars for the film screening. This time, the actress made a 90-degree bow to the audience and didn't show any more of the inappropriate behavior heavily disapproved by netizens.
