The Korea Times noted Oct. 15 that the 13th New York Korean Film Festival on Nov. 6 to 11 will feature South Korean blockbuster films, including "Assassination," "Veteran," "The Beauty Inside," "The Shameless," "Madonna," "Office," Wonderful Nightmare," "Trap" and "Confession."

The event will be held at the Museum of the Moving Image and will be attended by South Korean celebrities, directors and producers, including Koh Ah Sung, Ryoo Seung Wan, Shin Su Won, Lee Do Yun, Kang Hyo Jin, Oh Seung Uk, and Hong Won Chan.

The event marks the first partnership of the festival and the museum, highlighting South Korean film expertise in crime thrillers, eroticas and romantic fantasies.

According to Indiewire Oct. 15, the festival will showcase five New York premieres and one international premiere. Advanced tickets may be purchased online starting Oct. 21 for the screenings that will be held on the six-day event.

The Hollywood Reporter noted on Wednesday that the movie "Assassination" resonated to South Koreans as they celebrate the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II and the fall of imperial Japan.

"Assassination" is a spy action film set in the 1930s during Japan's invasion of Korea. The movie debuted at No. 4 in China earning $6.7 million and is one of the highest-grossing films of all time in South Korea's box office earning a whopping $98 million.

Aside from being featured on the New York Korean Film Festival on November, "Assassination" was also featured in the 19th Montreal Fantasia Fest and will be on its way to London and Busan before its Korean film showcases in Paris, Frankfurt and Hawaii.

Meanwhile, the romance comedy movie "The Beauty Inside" by Director Baek Jong Yeol emerged as a box office success despite being competing against action blockbusters "Veteran" and "Assassination." The story revolves around a man who wakes up in a different body every day, with the only constant thing in his life is the girl he is in love with.

"The Beauty Inside" has been seen by over two million moviegoers in South Korea and is still being played in some theatres overseas.
