Bangtan Boys (BTS) Tops Japanese Music Chart

The South Korean boy group Bangtan Boys a.k.a. BTS topped benchmark music chart in Japan with their latest album "Youth".

According to Big Hit Entertainment's press release, which is the band's agency, said that seven-member act claimed the top spot in the daily album section of the ORICON chart in Japan. It sold a total of 44,457 copies of its second full-length album entitled "Youth" within the day of its release on Wednesday.

BTS continued gaining popularity with their Most Beautiful Moment in Life trilogy, with The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Part 2 and The Most Beautiful Moment In Life: Young Forever that are both qualified in the Billboard 200.

Bangtan Boys' second album entitled "Wake Up" was released in December 2014. It came a year and 9 months after the release of their first album. "Youth" contains 13 songs including "Wishing on a Star." Some of the songs are Japanese version of the band's old hits namely: "For You," "I Need You," and "Fire."

BTS debuted in Japan last June 2014 with their first album "No More Dreams." The Korean boy band has established a huge local fandom and they earned the title of "hallyu idol," or globally followed K-pop boy group.

The Korean boy band is widely known for their huge international fanbase. They have performed in Asia, Europe, Australia, North America, and South America. Because of BTS's great and outstanding performances, they won the Best World Performer award in the 2015 at Mnet Asian Music Awards.

Moreover, BTS has large and active social media presence where in Forbes labeled them as the most retweeted artist on Twitter in 2016. Twitter also launched its first K-Pop Twitter emoji that featured BTS.

Recently, BTS performed in the "A-Nation," which is a known first-tier music festival in Japan together with local Japanese star musicians Koda Kumi and Ayumi Hamasaki.
