On September 7, Soompi reported that Super Junior member Kangin attends his last trial on his drunk driving case.

The report stated that Seoul Central District Court Judge Uhm Cheol said, "Although the accident resulted in a streetlight falling onto the street and sidewalk, it was enough to affect traffic. Thankfully, there were no [human] accidents and only resulted in destruction of property. The fact that he is thoroughly self-reflecting was taken into consideration."

Kangin has reportedly been fined 7 million won (around $6,400).

On the early hours of May 24, the Super Junior member had been drunk driving and ended up colliding his Mercedes-Benz with a streetlight in front of a convenience store. He fled the scene after the accident. The police arrived at the scene after the owner of the convenience store reported the mishap. The idol then turned himself in to the police and admitted that he had been drinking at a restaurant before the accident happened. The idol also claimed, "I remember hitting something, but I did not know it was a street light pole."

On June 10, the police said that Kangin's blood-alcohol content at the time of the accident was 0.157 percent and submitted the results of their findings to the prosecutor's offices with a recommendation of an indictment.

In response to their artist's drunk driving incident, SM Entertainment stated, "Kangin contacted the police regarding the accident and received an investigation at the arranged time. Kangin will cease all entertainment-related schedules to take some time to self-reflect."

The singer has been on indefinite hiatus since the accident. He was also involved in another drunk driving accident in 2009 where his car ran into a taxi on the morning of October 16. Witnesses claimed that Kangin got off his car and fled the scene. He was fined 8 million won in January 2010.
