Netflix Signs Ex-WWE Star Chavo Guerrero To Train ‘Community’ Actress Alison Brie For ‘GLOW’

Netflix hires Ex-WWE wrestler Chavo Guerrero to train cast of "GLOW"

The upcoming new Netflix series "GLOW" will revolve around the titular pro wrestling promotion, whose name stands for the "Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling," and it seems like the online streaming service company plans to have the series' elements as authentic as possible as it hired ex-WWE star Chavo Guerrero to train the show's leading star Alison Brie.

Pro Wrestling Sheet reported that Chavo Guerrero has signed on with Netflix to assist in the production of "GLOW," where he will reportedly be training the show's stars in the illustrious ways of professional wrestling. Guerrero's training sessions will begin before "GLOW" begins taping this month.

Professional wrestling fans will remember Chavo Guerrero as one of the former biggest names in the World Wrestling Entertainment professional wrestling promotion. By his name alone, the wrestler is a member of the legendary Guerrerro luchador wrestling clan. Guerrero's full name is Salvador Guererro IV, though he is better sometimes known as just Chavo Guerrero, after his father's nickname who is now known as "Chavo Classic," or Chavo Guerrero Jr.

Other prominent members of the Guerrero wrestling name are Hector Guerrero, Mando Guerrero, who trained the cast of the original "GLOW" series, and the late WWE legend Eddie Guerrero. With all this in Chavo Guerrero's name alone, the production of "GLOW" already has substantial backing. Guerrero left the WWE back in 2011 and now currently part of the El Rey network's Lucha underground series.

Though Netflix has yet to officially announce the news, Brie herself has retweeted the news on her official Twitter account; meaning that only an official statement from Netflix is lacking, but the subject is indeed real.

"GLOW" revolves around the story of the titular real life organization, with the story set in the 80's. "GLOW" stands for the "Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling," and was one of the most prominent women's professional wrestling promotions. For Netflix' "GLOW," the show will star Brie as Ruth; an actress struggling with her career failing to take off and so she joins the in-universe series.

Opposite Brie will be Marc Maron, who will play the show's male lead named Sam Sylvia. Maron's character is described as a former big time director in Hollywood whose career meets a slump and so he starts working on the titular series.

"GLOW" is set to be a comedy-drama series created by Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch, with "Orange Is The New Black" creator Jenji Kohan acting as executive producer. The series will run for 10 episodes.

No news as of yet for a released date for "GLOW."
