‘Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare’ Multiplayer Beta Release Date Announced, Coming First To PS4

"Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" multiplayer beta arriving in October.

First person shooter aficionados can rejoice as an advanced taste of the multiplayer of "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare," the latest installment for this year in the first person shooter military speculative fiction "Call of Duty" series, has been announced.

The news was revealed by "Call of Duty" intellectual property rights owner and franchise publisher Activision at the recently begun Call of Duty: Experience 2016. The event began Friday, Sept. 2 in The Forum at Inglewood, Calif. And will run over the weekend until Sunday, Sept. 4.

Attendees at the event were treated to the revelation of the multiplayer aspect of "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare." Other than updates to installments in the video game series, Call of Duty: Experience 2016 also held this year's Call of Duty World League Championship. The event is only the second of Activision's gaming conventions meant specifically for the "Call of Duty" series, with the last convention being held way back in 2011.

Back to the "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" beta, it will begin on Oct. 14 and will first arrive to players on the PlayStation 4. This is part of the franchise' new partnership with Sony to deliver new content as essentially timed exclusives to the PlayStation console before following up with releases to the other platforms. The previous recent releases of post-release content for the series, like the last game in the series, "Call of Duty: Black Ops III," all released first for the PlayStation 4 with Xbox One and PC releases following later.

To those expecting that access to the "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" multiplayer beta will be free and easy; it seems that is not the case based on recent updates about the game on social media. The official "Call of Duty" Twitter account took to posting at around the same time as the Call of Duty Experience 2016 announcement.

The message said "Pre-order any edition of #InfiniteWarfare and get access to the Infinite Warfare Multiplayer Beta, starting Oct. 14 on PS4." This strongly suggests that in order to get into the "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" multiplayer beta, prospective players and fans of the series will have to actually shell out some dough beforehand.

No other details have been provided as of yet for the "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" multiplayer beta but, presumably versions for the Xbox One and the PC will arrive after the Oct. 14 date on the PlayStation 4. If the prospect holds true, then it could also mean that the beta will stay for a good long while before "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" releases on Nov. 4.
