Spider-Man Homecoming: First Photos of Marisa Tomei as Aunt May

New photos have arrived of Marisa Tomei as Aunt May in Spider-Man: Homecoming. The beautiful Oscar winning actress made her first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in this summer's smash hit Captain America: Civil War alongside with Tom Holland who plays Peter Parker.

Just Jared released the photos of Marisa Tomei and Tom Holland acting in the movie's Atlanta set.

According to Screen Rant "The set photos show the actress looking more motherly than many fans are used to seeing her, walking with Holland to and from a diner or restaurant. Clothed in comfortable garb, the pair could be relaxing between takes or shooting some early morning scenes in their apartment. It also looks as though following their hug, Holland walks off along a green screen-laced street."

No information about the significance of the scene to the movie was given, but this is the first time fans get to have a glimpse of the 51 year old actress since Spider-Man Homecoming began production in June.

The casting of Marisa Tomei as a young Aunt May caused a huge wave of surprise for the fans generating a lot of buzz and discussion because Aunt May in past Spider-Man films were usually portrayed by actresses in their sixties. Even in the comic book, Aunt May is portrayed as an old lady.

Tomei is now the third actress to take the mantle of the Web slinger's aunt. In Tobey Maguire's Spider-man, Rosemary Harris portrayed Aunt May, while in Andrew Garfield's film it was Sally Field . Aunt May in both the films and comics was Peter Parker's spiritual guide and moral compass.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is scheduled to be released in North America on July 7, 2017, in 3D, IMAX, and IMAX 3D
