On Thursday, allkpop reported that GOT7's Jackson was injured in a car accident because of a fan following him to the airport.

Jackson's agency, JYP Entertainment, announced that the idol was involved in a car accident on his way to the airport on the morning of September 1. The agency also claimed that the accident was caused by a sasaeng fan who stalked the GOT7 members by driving perilously and warns other fans not to do the same thing.

The agency stated:

"Hello, this is JYP Entertainment.

On the way to the airport this morning, GOT7's Jackson suffered a car accident caused by a fan following him in a car, and he's been injured. Jackson was taken to the hospital immediately after arriving at his destination, and we have taken action so he can receive an examination.

Staling artist cars is a dangerous act that can cause serious accidents that not only affect the artists but yourself and those around you. As it is dangerous for not only your safety but the safety of others, we sincerely ask fans once again to prevent this sort of situation that endangers the public.

Thank you."

On Thursday night, a representative from JYP released a statement on the condition of the idol. The representative said, "Jackson did not sustain great injuries. However, he did go to the hospital right after he arrived in Japan because it was a car accident, after all. He is being examined, and we'd have to look at the results. Based on the results, we will make decisions about his future promotions. We plan to watch over the situation to see if he can participate in the JYP concert set to open in Japan on September 4. The health of the artists under our agency comes foremost."

Netizens were displeased with the news of Jackson's accident and left comments such as "The fan who caused Jackson's car accident is not even a fan," "To think it is because of a fan's car, how traumatizing," "Even if you are a sasaeng fan, if you like him, shouldn't you be careful? Sasaeng fans are really thoughtless," "It was not a sasaeng fan, simply a malicious stalker," "The person who caused it went too far," and more.
