The to experience a major system malfunction in season 2 episode 10 of "Dark Matter"

The final stretch of "Dark Matter" season 2 is coming, and the crew of the Raza is faced with another major problem with a member; though this time, the afflicted member is none other than the usually unperturbable Android.

In the last episode of the season, episode 9 "Going Out Fighting," Two (Melissa O'Neil) experienced a debilitating bug that hit her system, brought about by her nanites shutting down and herself slowly dying.

To remedy the situation, the Raza crew decided to find her place of origin which turned out to be the main headquarters of Dwarf Star Technologies on Earth. The episode also featured the return of Wil Wheaton as Alex Rook, the CEO of Dwarf Star Technologies, who foresaw the event and attempted to use the circumstances to recapture Two.

Infiltrating the company, the crew managed to save Two with an injection of fresh and updated nanites that saved her. Unfortunately, Three (Anthony Lemke) was the next to suffer some serious system shut down as Rook infected him with an eldritch creature that the crew was forced to send out into space in order the save Three.

The episode formally ended on a high note, only for the episode's stinger to show that Raza crew's internal struggles are still not over with another member next in line to seemingly undergo some strange ordeal. After the credits rolled, the Android (Zoie Palmer) was shown to wake up in a peculiar place: an idyllic room of a house that seemed to be set in a quiet, forested environment.

What is more, the Android was also shown looking like when she was "more human" like during the time her personality changed thanks to the chip she installed in herself in the earlier episodes that allowed her system to better emulate human mannerisms.

A promo teaser for the next episode "Take The Shot" indicates that the Android will malfunction in some way. Bits of the video showed her engaging in more human actions back in the forest house, like making out with an as yet unspecified person. A likely situation is that the Android's human emulation chip is causing chaos in her system, with her human side cropping up possibly in a digital dream space. It seems that the crew will then plan to fix this problem by deleting the Android's personality matrix, something that Five (Jodelle Ferland) will argue against.

Syfy also released a longer sneak peek video, showing that the Android will bring the problem to the attention of the crew. They will then discover that Five tampered with the records of the ship to hide the aberrations cropping up in the Android's system which caused the latter's judgement capabilities to deteriorate. It is this that will likely lead to the crew discussing what to do with the Android, like reformatting her to factory settings with Five disagreeing.

Catch "Dark Matter" episode 10 Sept. 2, Friday on Syfy.
