Woman Imprisoned For False Rape Accusation Against JYJ’s Park Yoo-chun

A 24-year old woman from South Korea who filed a sexual assault complaint against the actor-singer Park Yoo-chun on charges of false rape accusations and attempted blackmail.

According to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, the defendant, identified only by her surname Lee, is suspected of asking Park for money after having sex with him and threatening Park to go public with false claims that he raped her.

The 32-year-old boyfriend of Lee and a 33-year-old local crime gang member were also indicted for allegedly taking part in the blackmailing they conducted to the actor-singer.

Yoo-chun is a South Korean singer-songwriter and actor. He is a member of the South Korean boy group JYJ and former member of TVXQ. He was born on June 4, 1986 in Seoul, South Korea to a wealthy family. In 1998, his family moved to the United States and he lived in Fairfax, Virginia, where he attended Holmes Middle School and Chantilly High.

In 2003, Park returned to South Korea alone and finished his studies. He graduated from Kyung-hee University. Moreover, a sad memory came to Park when his father died due to an undisclosed illness.

Park, a member of the famous K-pop boy band JYJ, was involved in a scandal as four different women, all working at local bars, made complaints against him in June and claiming that he raped them. One of the cases dates back to 2014, while the latest allegedly occurred in early June 2016.

Lee is the first woman who filed the case and dropped the charges. However, Park made a counterclaim, saying she falsely accused him of sexual assault. He also filed charges against the second woman for making similar allegations against him.

According to the local police investigation, they said that they could not find any evidence of coercion that involved in the sexual encounters. However, they said Park is suspected of having sex with one of the women and promising some sort of compensation which was not met by the Park.

Currently, the prosecutors are now looking into the case to decide whether Park can be charged with fraud and solicitation of prostitution.
