New Yacht Marina To be Completed Next Week in Incheon
The new yacht marina located in the western port city of Incheon will be completed next week according to some officials.
The Wangsan Sailing Marina, which is located near Incheon International Airport, will be able to dock a total of 300 yachts when it is completed next Monday according to the information given by Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ).
According to the master plan of Wangsan Marina, it is intended to serve as the catalyst for future expansion of the marina into a small boat recreational marina after the Asian Games to serve the metropolitan area of Seoul and Incheon. The future development of marina will include uses such as housing, retail, hospitality and/or other entertainment uses to create a marina oriented destination resort area.
In 2012, a construction project worth 155.4 billion won (US$139.3 million) is started by the Incheon Metropolitan City Government together with South Korea's largest flag carrier, Korean Air Lines Co.
An official from Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ) said that the opening of the yacht marina is expected to meet tourism demand from home and abroad.
During the 2014 Asian Games, the marina previously used as a venue for yacht and sailing matches.
An additional 200 billion won will be added by the Wangsan Leisure Development Co., which is a subsidiary of Korean Air, to construct a hotel, clubhouse, and other facilities near by the marina.
Furthermore, its goal is to create a phased strategy for initial development of the competitive Sailing Venue and its expansion into a small boat marina with related hospitality and resort development.
