‘Death Stranding’ To Include Mads Mikkelsen? Here Is The Reason ‘Rogue One’ Star Is Rumored In New Hideo Kojima Project
It looks like the cast for Hideo Kojima's first post-Konami project, "Death Stranding," is set to be even more star studded as rumors suggest that "Rogue One" star Mads Mikkelsen might be joining "The Walking Dead" star Norman Reedus in the game's development.
Pretty much all of the inhabitants of the gaming industry might have heard of Hideo Kojima's new project "Death Stranding" right now; the game is set to be his first production after he left Konami and the "Metal Gear" franchise behind. "Death Stranding" was officially unveiled during Sony's conference at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), with a fully cinematic computer generated (CG) concept trailer starring none other than "The Walking Dead" actor Norman Reedus.
Now, "Death Stranding" is rumored to be expanding its celebrity cast, though this time to someone set to have an increasing prominence in the speculative fiction genre; fitting considering the "Death Stranding" trailer's seeming combination of both horror and speculative fiction. The actor rumored to be joining Reedus is none other than Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen, whose claim to fame his appearance as LE Chiffre in 2006' "Casino Royale" as well as the upcoming "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story."
The rumors flared up after Kojima posted on his official Twitter account, sharing an intriguing picture to his followers. The picture showed a motion capture studio, with an out of focus figure standing in the background wearing an orange hoodie jacket. The picture was captioned simply "adjusting," indicating it was taken of a process during one of Kojima's projects.
Another picture then showed up on Instagram, this time from user jmerskine1. The picture showed the poster posing for a photograph with Mikkelsen. Curiously, the orange jacket Mikkelsen was wearing in the picture looked uncannily similar to the one worn by the person in Kojima's photo.
The connection, though unconfirmed, sent fans of both Mikkelsen and Kojima into an uproar with many hoping that Mikkelsen is indeed the figure in Kojima's picture and that the game inferred is actually "Death Stranding itself."
Various comments by jmerskine1 on his Instagram post further fanned the flames of the fandom's speculation, with the poster apparently asking Mikkelsen of his current projects when they met. According to jmerskine1, Mikkelsen was "being very intentionally vague" but admitted that he is "acting in a video game." The kicker is jmerskin1's own comment that Mikkelsen "said it was a Japanese game," which further strengthens the possibility that he is indeed working with Kojima and it might very well be for "Death Stranding."
If the rumors hold true, then Hideo Kojima's first project after Konami is set to carry some major acting weight. Currently still in production, "Death Stranding" still has no release date as of yet.
