‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Appearance in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Confirmed By Vin Diesel
It looks like the superhero group team-up that Marvel fans have been waiting for the Marvel Cinematics Universe is finally set to pass, as the Guardians of the Galaxy has nnow been confirmed to be joining the Avengers in the upcoming MCU phase 3 climax film "Avengers: Infinity" war.
As first reported by Screen Rant, "Guardians of the Galaxy" star Vin Diesel just confirmed the news of the appearance of his team of misfits in the "Avengers: Infinity war" film. Diesel revealed the news to the viewers of his livestream on Facebook, which has garnered more than 2.5 million views and 345, 000 likes.
The specific part of the video featuring the announcement came up at about 19:52 minutes in, with Diesel remarking on the beginnings of the beginnings of "Guardians of the Galaxy" when people started asking him when he might appear in an entry in the Marvel Cinematics Universe.
Vin Diesel spoke about having a meeting with Marvel at that time back in 2013, after which he shared a picture of himself standing in front of a poster for an "Avengers" comic book. The photo was captioned "Marvel meeting today... Only the people in the room can tell you what was discussed... P.s. Thanks to Our page, for pushing to make it happen... you know I get tunnel vision with my work... and after that meeting today... wow!"
Going back to the livestream video, Diesel then went on to say that that the 2013 photo might become surreal now as the actor will actually be meeting with the Avengers in 2018's "Avengers: Infinity War;" or at least his computer generated character Groot anyway.
The prospect of the "Guardians of the Galaxy" team showing up in "Avengers: Infinity War" has long been discussed by fans of the Marvel Cinematics Universe, owing to the strong possibility considering the film will likely function as the tie up of the franchise' myth arc which "Guardians of the Galaxy" majorly touched on.
The next film for Groot, Star Lord, and the Guardians is set to arrive next year before "Avengers: Infinity War" hits theaters on 2018. "Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2" will premiere next year in May, with a strong likelihood of a third film following in the Marvel Cinematics universe' phase 3 barring any major changes in "Infinity War."
So, should it be called "Avengers of the Galaxy: Infinity War" now?
