‘Destiny: The Collection’ Announced By Bungie, Bundle Includes All Expansions Until ‘Rise of Iron’
A new update to the last leg of Bungie's first person shooter role playing game "Destiny" has been announced, this time revealing a bundle pack for the game called "Destiny: The Collection" which will include all of the game's expansions including the upcoming "Rise of Iron."
The announcement was made through blog post on the official PlayStation website, which talked of the plans Bungie and Activision has to promote the upcoming "Destiny: Rise of Iron" expansion coming out later next month. As Gamescom 2016 is just mere days away, the hype train for video game announcements and updates is continuing after June's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 kickstarted it.
For "Destiny," the game is set for its third and final major expansion in the form of "Rise of Iron." The game will be the last expansion for the game, with the next milestone in the budding franchise being the sequel slated to be released sometime next year.
To garner new players and to entice the ones who have left, in addition to allowing them to catch up to the game's current playerbase, Bungie will release a bundle pack for the game. Titled "Destiny: The Collection," the pack is set to include all of the game's expansions which lists "Destiny: The Dark Below," "Destiny: The Taken King," and even upcoming "Destiny: Rise of Iron."
More than the expansions, the collection will also include added fluff for both prospective players and those on break. One of the collection's features is a consumable that will "boost your character to combat-ready status;" meaning that it might be the one of those level boosters that will propel a character's level or status to a comparable level or tier as the current playerbase', a later-expansion practice that is becoming increasingly common in the MMO industry.
"Destiny: The Collection" also has an added feature specifically meant for players of the game on the previous generation consoles, also known as Legacy players by the developers. As "Rise of Iron" will not be released to the Legacy consoles, Legacy players can take advantage of the collection as purchasing it will give them access to the version of the game on current generation consoles in addition to also getting "Rise of Iron."
The only requirement for Legacy players is that they have "Destiny: The Taken King" on their account, which means that those who already do so can simply purchase the collection once it releases.
There is some discrepancy with the collection's prices as comments on the PlayStation website blog post and other reports indicate that "Destiny: The Collection" is listed for the full brand new game price of $59.99, while the post and other material from Bungie states that it will retail for $40.
"Destiny: Rise of Iron" will release September 20.
