Rio 2016: Ryan Lochte and 3 Other Swimmers Robbed or Not?

The US Olympic Committee confirmed that Ryan Lochte and three other American swimmers were robbed at gunpoint on Sunday morning.

Lochte together with the three other swimmers namely Gunnar Bentz, Jack Conger and Jimmy Feigen were in the taxi traveling from France's hospitality venue going to the Olympic Village. The thieves were disguised as police officers who stopped the taxi they are riding and took their money and belongings.

Lochte narrated to NBC that one of the robbers put a gun to his forehead before getting his wallet. It is one of the first security incident happened in Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games since it has started.

"We got pulled over, in the taxi, and these guys came out with a badge, a police badge, no lights, no nothing just a police badge and they pulled us over. They pulled out their guns, they told the other swimmers to get down on the ground - they got down on the ground. I refused, I was like we didn't do anything wrong, so - I'm not getting down on the ground. And then the guy pulled out his gun, he cocked it, put it to my forehead and he said, 'Get down,' and I put my hands up, I was like 'whatever.' He took our money, he took my wallet - he left my cell phone, he left my credentials," Lochte told NBC Sports in an interview.

The US Olympic Committee released a statement on the incident stating that the four athletes are safe and cooperating with the authorities.
