The train of film adaptations of video game series is going strong after "WarCraft" wrecked the financial scale and ignited hope in the genre, with the next flick to hit in December being the adaptation of Ubisoft's "Assassin's Creed," which will apparently feature some characters from the source material.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, "Assassin's Creed" film production armorer Tim Wildgoose revealed that some characters from the film's source material will be making a leap of faith from the video games and onto the big screen.

As the armorer for the film, Wildgoos is in charge of designing and creating the props that will be used by the cast members. Other than making them period appropriate, as the "Assassin's Creed" series is known for utilizing historical settings with the film slated to have a sizable chunk of events in the past, Wildgoose was also tasked to make the "real" weapons as close to their video game designs as possible.

As a franchise known for professional killers, the "Assassin's Creed" label is tied closely with its fictional brotherhood's tools of the trade; it was also previously announced that some of the iconic weapons shown in the game will feature in various capacities in the film, with some slated to be shown used by their original owners.

According to Wildgoose, "There's basically a few assassins taken straight from the games, who we get to see in the films. We actually get to use some of the real game weapons in there." Though he did not give any specifics, Wildgoose did say that the characters will not be any of the game's main characters "but they're very famous characters that the fans will probably enjoy."

That means no Ezio, Desmond, or Altair; although a non-main video game character already in the film is Abstergo CEO Alan Rikkin, who will be played by Jeremy Irons. Putting two and two together, there are a couple possibilities as to who the specific characters might be.

On the modern day section of the film, the character with a "signature" weapon that comes to mind is Shaun Hastings. The snarky Brit is the one of the main contacts that players meet in the modern day segments of the series, with his appearance in the latest game featuring him with a brand new Shock Blade. By design, the Shock Blade is similar to the iconic Hidden Blade used by the Assassin Brotherhood; only replace the actual blade with a high-powered taser.

If Shaun really will show up in the film, then it is not too far to believe that his partner Rebecca Crane and enigmatic handler Bishop are not too far behind.

For the historical portions, there are quite a few legendary Assassins that have had their own iconic weapons though none stand out more than the female Chinese Assassin Shao Jun. She first appeared in the "Assassin's Creed: Embers" CGI animated short film. Shao Jun is credited with introducing the use of the rope dart to the Brotherhood, teaching them the ways of utilizing the versatile tool to its fullest potential. Though she did star in her own chapter in "Assassin's Creed: Chronicles," so her status as a non-main character is debatable.

With the lack of any specifics, the above are only guesses though their appearance in the film are a sure treat for any hardcore "Assassin's Creed" fan.
