‘Destiny 2’ Art Allegedly Leaked By ‘Taken King’ Artist Ahead of ‘Rise of Iron’ Release Date
With the release date for the "Destiny: Rise of Iron," the next and final expansion for Bungie's online multiplayer first person shooter role playing game "Destiny," set to hit in a little over a month, the embers of hype around the game just got stoked once more with art allegedly from the sequel being leaked online.
Aziz Dosmetov, an artist who worked on "Destiny: The Taken King," reportedly leaked a series of concept board images that supposedly show elements of the upcoming sequel to the game slated for a release sometime next year.
The images were supposedly shared on Behance, although they have since been taken down, with Reddit user DustinThaxton sharing the information through a thread on the community website.
According to the thread's opening post, while the legitimacy of the images have been confirmed to be either for Bungie or for "Destiny 2," the similarities between the elements present in them and in those of Dosmetov's work for "Destiny: The Taken King" signify a degree of truth in the Behance post.
A mirror posting of the images has since been made on Imgur, allowing those who did not catch Dosmetov's original post on Behance to peruse them and judge for themselves on the properties of the images. A snapshot of the web page prior to being taken down has also been shared, showing proof that Dosmetov really did made a post on Behance about "Destiny 2."
As for the images themselves, they look like stills from what might very well be a trailer for the sequel. A lot of the pictures show figures wreathe in what seems like flames, with the last few stills showing a large "2" which suggests that Bungie will keep to the studio's practice of giving simple labels to the sequels of their franchises.
The response to the images have been divisive, with some simply claiming added hype after seeing the images while other criticize some of the design choices used for them. For others still, some claim that they might simply be samples from the original "Destiny" with a lot of filters and effects dumped in.
Before "Destiny 2" hits in 2017 however, players will have the upcoming "Rise of Iron" expansion to satisfy their appetites. The expansion is set to hit on Sept. 20, and is slated to bring in a host of new content to the game as its last expansion.
