‘BioShock: The Collection’ Revisit Rapture Trailer Shows Original Game In All Its Remastered Glory
2K Games just released a trailer for the upcoming remastered collection of the "BioShock" video game series, called "BioShock: The Collection," showcasing the graphical overhaul and visual improvements the critically acclaimed original 2007 title has undergone. Warning: some spoilers ahead for the plot of the games.
The promotional video was released on 2K's official YouTube channel, and served as a sneek peak into what fans might expect in the collection. Appropriately titled "BioShock: Revisit Rapture," the video began with a shot of the famous lighthouse scene that originally gave players their first tentative steps into the underwater dystopic city of Rapture. The sinking remnants of the destroyed plane that Jack flew in on were also shown, reminding players of the true gravity of that introductory scene.
The trailer's audio began with a quote from Elizabeth of "BioShock: Infinite," where she spoke about the "constants and variables" of the story and how everything "always starts with a lighthouse" as the camera looked up to that fateful, unassuming obelisk in the middle of water and destruction.
The trailer then switched to what seemed like in-game footage of the remastered "BioShock," showing the improvements made to the game's visuals by taking viewers on a tour of the newly refurbished Rapture. Throughout all the above, parts of Andrew Ryan's famous "Welcome to Rapture" speech played in the background.
"I am Andrew Ryan, and I'm here to ask you a question. Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow? 'No,' says the man in Washington, 'it belongs to the poor.' 'No," says the man in the Vatican, 'it belongs to God.' 'No,' says the man in Moscow, 'it belongs to everyone.' I rejected those answers; instead, I chose something different. I chose the impossible. I chose... Rapture."
As for the specifics of the remastered collection, reports indicate that all three games will be included in it; "BioShock," "BioShock 2," and "BioShock: Infinite." Both Rapture games, as in the first two titles, will be included in their remastered forms for both PC and console versions of the collection. Meanwhile, "BioShock: Infinite" was only remastered for the console versions and so PC players will only get the game in its original state.
Offsetting the drawback for PC players is the fact that they can get the remastered games for free if they already own the original versions on Steam.
Other fluff includes all single player DLC for the games being bundled with the collection, as well as a video series featuring commentary from series director Ken Levine and lead artist Shawn Robertson.
"BioShock: The Collection" will release on September 13 for all platforms.
