Former Arizona Diamondbacks player Danny Dorn is looking to deliver in his first season batting for Korean Baseball Organization team the Nexen Heroes. The ball club is based out of Seoul.

The 30-year-old right fielder, who can also play first base, describes the start of his South Korean professional baseball career, particularly on a team with several departing stars like Park Byung Ho and Yoo Han Joon, as a chance to show fans what he's made of.

"I look at it...as an opportunity," Dorn told the Yonhap News Agency on Friday. "I expect a lot of things from myself."

According to the former California State University star player, his toughest critic is Danny Dorn.

"Outside pressure doesn't really matter because my expectation for myself is higher than anyone's," he said. "I know if I come in, stay focused and work hard, I will show what kind of player I am and help us win games."

And what does the expatriate believe the difference is between playing Major League Baseball and for the Nexen Heroes?

"The railings [in the ceiling of the dome where we play] kind of give you a bit of depth and you can get a read off them," Dorn said. "You've got to keep your eye on the ball and track it the best you can."

He admits that the fact that the Heroes's home ballpark is the newly-built Gocheok Sky Dome is a major perk.

"It's beautiful and I feel thankful and blessed to get to use these facilities and play baseball," Dorn said. "They did a great job. It's a major league clubhouse. The weight room is unbelievable. I just want to go in there and work out all day."
