UFC President Dana White Says Nate Diaz Might Not Be Seen Again After Fight With Conor McGregor
Many may have failed to guess the outcome of the Conor McGregor - Nate Diaz fight in UFC 196 but one thing is for sure, both those men will earn a loaded pack of cash.
The American "upset" his Irish counterpart through a rear naked choke in the second round. Before the fight, McGregor said he is set to earn $10 million from the fight. However, because of the loss, it seems his prediction is wrong. The worse part of it is Diaz will have a more enjoyable time.
Talking to the press after the Conor McGregor - Nate Diaz fight, UFC pres. Dana White jokingly said the latter might not be seen again because of the money he will accumulate from the bout.
"We might never see him again [laughs]," he told MMA Mania. "He made so much money, you might never see Nate Diaz again. Somebody asked him, 'What are you going to do with your money?' He said, 'I'm buying a yacht.' So he might be going out to sea and it might be the end of Nate Diaz."
According to reports, Diaz also took home $500,000 and $100,000 for capturing both the "Fight of the Night" and "Performance of the Night" awards.
Pay-per-view figures for Conor McGregor - Nate Diaz fight will not be released in a few weeks but White earlier said that UFC 196 could be one of the biggest events in the league's history. Live attendance at the MGM Grand Garden Arena was reportedly at 15,00 and gate attendance is at $8.1 million.
It was one of the most anticipated matches in UFC despite Diaz being just a replacement for Rafael Dos Anjos because of an injured foot. The press conference was intense and the two exchanged insults in front of each other. They also nearly come to blows. After his win against Jose Aldo, Conor McGregor was called out by Diaz for 'stealing' what was supposed to be his.
Right now, there are no talks of a Conor McGregor - Nate Diaz fight rematch yet and the former is more likely to go back to his usual weight class and fight Aldo again.
