Conor McGregor challenges Floyd Mayweather Jr. to a formal fight

Conor McGregor's next fight won't happen until Saturday but he is already looking forward to another.

On top of that, the Notorious, who will fight Nate Diaz on March 5 for UFC 196, has very interesting choice for an opponent.

The Irish MMA fighter has made it known that he does not like legendary boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. He does not only hate him. He wants to fight him in an official fight.

"I'm open to discussions, come at me," he told BT Sport when asked about the prospect of fighting Mayweather Jr. next. "But I hold the key and it's me who holds the key to the fight game. I am open minded, I am open to discussion, I love competition, I love fighting. It would be nice to make that fight if the fans were interested and wanted to see it."

Mayweather Jr., who retired with a record-tying 49-0 Win-Loss card, is already retired and is focused on promoting boxing fights.

The two got in a verbal run-in when Floyd accused the sports world of racism, citing the case of The Notorious getting away with his cockiness.

He thinks that McGregor is not being lambasted for his foul mouth because he is white while he is being criticized heavily because he is black.

McGregor responded by saying he should have not brought his name in the issue, that he, too, is also a victim of prejudice back in his country and for being an Irish. He also challenged Floyd Mayweather Jr. to a fight.

"If you want we can organise a fight no problem," he said in his Instagram post. "I will give you a fair 80/20 split purse in my favour seen as your last fight bombed at every area of revenue. At 27 years of age I now hold the key to this game. The game answers to me now. "

Interestingly, the two is being compared by UFC president Dana White. Floyd Mayweather Jr. is the face of boxing and White thinks UFC has McGregor.

Nate Diaz is Conor McGregor's next fight after Jose Aldo last November. The fight will take place at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.
