Is ‘The Walking Dead’s’ Glenn The Boy Who Cried Wolf? Season 6 Spoilers Hint At Other Deaths
Is "The Walking Dead" going to rename Glenn Rhee as the "boy who cried wolf"?
Based on the latest "The Walking Dead" season 6 spoilers, this seems to be the case as the fan-favorite Glenn (Steven Yeun) is able to, time and again, miraculously escape from the throes of death, according to Vanity Fair.
"That is to say, if an unspoiled viewer watches Glenn almost die over and over again, maybe they'll believe he's a quasi-invincible character who is too popular to be killed off," the entertainment site pointed out.
In "The Walking Dead's" episode 9 titled "No Way Out," Glenn tried to draw a horde of hungry zombies away from a pregnant Maggie (Lauren Cohan) but ended up being engulfed in a sea of walkers.
It looked like Glenn's fate was already sealed, as he became utterly defenseless after running out of bullets and having no room to escape after the zombies' attention shifted to him.
However, viewers who watched "The Walking Dead" episode heaved another sigh of relief as Glenn once again outwitted the grim reaper to live another day.
But how long can Glenn continue to outrun his destiny?
Not for long, as followers of the "The Walking Dead" comic series know that Glenn will certainly die.
And if the "The Walking Dead" comic's storyline prove to be the season 6 spoilers that they are turning out to be, Glenn's heroics will finally be put to an end by Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) who is expected to make a "splashy entrance" in the season finale.
However, "The Walking Dead" showrunner Scott Gimple revealed that Glenn may not be the only character who will soon sign off from the series, reported Uproxx.
Gimple in fact hinted that "The Walking Dead's" story arc would take a "hard left turn" which could suggest that another character could fall by Negan's bat aside from Glenn.
Andrew Lincoln, who portrays the character of Rick Grimes in "The Walking Dead" series, confessed that the death of the unnamed character "makes him sick to his stomach."
"I felt sick to my stomach when I read the script," Grimes said. "It was the first day in the whole six years of working on 'The Walking Dead' that I was late for work because I woke up in the middle of the night and I couldn't get back to sleep."
"I was so angry and frustrated and I felt sick," he added. "And that was just after reading it."
With these developments, would the writers of "The Walking Dead" extend Glenn's appearance on the show or finally give him the ax?
