NBA Trade Rumors: David Lee Was Not Traded But Might Find Himself In Contender From Western Conference

David Lee not traded but might find himself with Mavs soon

David Lee is among the names that got dragged in recent NBA trade rumors in last two months.

However, when the trade deadline came, he did not find himself in another team since he was not dealt by Boston Celtics.

That is not the end of the unsettling situation he is in, though. NBA trade for this season may be over but players will still find themselves in another team. Lee is one of those.

The 32-year-old might see himself closer to his former team Golden State Warriors with whom he won a championship with last season as reports said Dallas Mavericks is showing interest.

"David Lee is expected to sign with Dallas for the room exception of $2.1 million once he clears waivers, league sources tell The Vertical," NBA reporter Shams Charania wrote on his Twitter account.

David Lee's name was first dropped in NBA trade rumors late last year. Reports said Boston Celtics coach Brad Stevens is not keen on keeping him on the team because he does not fit the system.

"The Celtics have been very solid, but Coach Brad Stevens has a minutes problem, as evidenced by the lack of time for David Lee, whose expiring contract is available, per league sources," NBA.com's David Anderson wrote on December 21.

Lee, a one-time All-Star, was shipped to Celtics by Warriors before the season started. He only averages 7.1 points per game with Boston in at least 15 minutes per outing, a far cry from his 33 minutes per game with Warriors two seasons ago.

Critics believe Lee to Mavs is a win-win for both sides. The 2005 30th overall top pick can be a good bench guy for the Dallas Mavericks who already has Zaza Pachulia and Javale McGee.

"For Lee, there's little downside to joining a solid organization that is sixth in the West and could use some frontcourt help. For the Mavs, there's not much risk, either. Lee's presence doesn't exactly change their outlook on the season, but it does strengthen the bench," CBS Sports explained.
