Batista's Deep Connection To LGBT Has Him Furious Over Manny Pacquiao's Homophobic Comments
There was a time when former WWE superstar-turned-actor Batista was a big time Manny Pacquiao fan. He even volunteered to become one of his ringside men for his entrance in fight with Ricky Hatton.
The admiration is gone now. The "Guardian of the Galaxy" star, known as Dave Michael Bautista in real-life, is among many famous celebrities who expressed disgust of the Filipino boxer for his homophobic comments.
Turned out, the 47-year is deeply connected to the LGBT community as her mother is part of it.
"My mom happens to be a lesbian so I don't fucking take that shit," said Batista during an interview with TMZ.
"I don't think it's funny. If anyone called my mother an animal I'd stick my foot in his ass."
He insisted though that he still respects his fellow Filipino star "but as far as his opinions, stick that up your ass."
Manny Pacquiao's homophobic comments created a hell of a storm inside his country and all over the world. The eight-division world champion compared same-sex relationship 'worse than animals' if they get married. This subsequently got him fired by Nike as one of its endorsers.
"Woman was made for man, man was made for woman," he said in an interview in a local new channel.
"It's common sense. Will you see any animals where male is to male and female is to female? The animals are better. They know how to distinguish, male or female. If we approve male on male, female on female, then man is worse than animal."
He has since then apologized for the remark but still continued with his Bible preaching by posting a verse on his Instagram account that said homosexuals should be put to death. The post has been deleted.
Pacman's comment was made after he was asked what his views are on same-sex marriage. He is running for a senatorial seat in his country and he is among the top candidates.
Manny Pacquiao will fight Timothy Bradly for the third time on April 9. He said this will be his last fight to focus on his political career.
