'Vikings' Season 4 Spoilers: Say Goodbye To Favorite Characters

by Rolly Gacelo / Feb 21, 2016 10:14 PM EST
Vikings cast returned for fourth season on February 18. Whose character will die?

The much anticipated "Vikings" season 4 episode 1 has aired and put its followers' hearts on a roller coaster ride, making avid viewers look for more spoilers.

The History Channel TV series has resumed for a longer season and fans can be at ease for now as lead character Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) is still alive.

While Floki's fate is unfortunate, there are still many good takeaways. Also, no major character was killed off.

That might not stay long, though.

Shortly after "Vikings" season 4 episode 1 titled "A Good Treason," series creator Michael Hirst revealed some possible heartbreaking spoilers that the next few weeks will be devastating for viewers who are deeply invested to some of the characters. There will be deaths and they will not like it.

"Personally, I think this is our best season," Hirst told TVGuide.com. "And yes, there are some devastating moments that were - as usual for me - quite difficult to write and to say goodbye to people. We do death very well I think in Vikings, but it's a hard road."

Most "Vikings" season 4 spoilers/theories point at Ragnar as the possible subtraction in the fourth season.

He is gravely ill and if history will be followed, he did not live long. Hirst said the king of Kattegat will have a hard time for the rest of the season.

"I think that Ragnar finds it increasingly difficult to carry the burden of kingship," he explained.

"I think that getting into Paris almost killed him and he was rather looking forward to being in Valhalla, in one way, but it's denied him and he has to pick up the burden again. And a lot of the new season is about how he deals with the burden and, of course, the particular focus he has on the relationship with his brother."

Hirst also teased a major spoiler revealing a confrontation between Ragnar and his brother Rollo (Clive Standen) in future "Vikings" season 4 episodes. Rollo betrayed his brother for the second time by siding with French kingdom.

The next episode is called "Kill the Queen" and will air on Feb. 25.
