'Star Wars: The Force Awakens': Why Was Luke Skywalker & Darth Vader's Scene Cut From Episode 8?

Amid waiting for "Star Wars: Episode 8," many fans are still raving about "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" despite Luke Skywalker only appearing on the film during its last two minutes

However, some may have been disappointed by new reports about the movie - was there supposed to be a lightsaber duel between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader that was scrapped out from the movie?

According to The Guardian, the "forceback" or the flashback scenes from Rey's visions may have originally included Luke Skywalker going against Darth Vader in a one-on-one battle, as indicated in the book "Star Wars: The Force Awakens".

"As she peered into the distance, she saw a man in black wielding a red lightsaber," Rey's story in the book read, as quoted by the publication.

"His face was covered with a mask, moulded to approximate a human face. But the mask's eyes were dead and empty. The man's red lightsaber clashed against a brilliant beam of blue. A young man with blond hair raised his own lightsaber and fought furiously against the monster in black."

Though fans wish they could have seen such an epic duel in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," some believe that it could still happen in "Star Wars: Episode 8."

As early as now, fans are forming various theories about how the plot twists in "Star Wars: Episode 8," especially after writer Lawrence Kasdan dished out that fans ckan expect "weird" things on the upcoming movie.

"[Incoming Director] Rian Johnson is a friend of mine - he's going to make some weird thing," Kasdan told LA Times. "If you've seen Rian's work, you know it's not going be like anything that's ever been in 'Star Wars.'"

According to The Week, fan theories about the plot of the upcoming "Star Wars" movie range from Rey being the daughter of Snoke, and Luke Skywalker turning to the dark side.

With his appearance in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" being quite limited to say the least, fans are expecting to see more of Luke Skywalker on "Star Wars: Episode 8" scheduled to hit theaters next year.
