The iconic K-pop couple, solo singer/actor Lee Seung-gi and Girls' Generation member Yoona, has parted ways. SM Entertainment, Yoona's management agency, has confirmed this and reassured fans that "they have decided to remain good friends".

Hook Entertainment, Lee's label, has also commented on the recent news. "Even though we don't know the exact date of their break up, it is true that the two are no longer a couple".

Lee and Yoona, two of Korea's in-demand stars have dated since October 2013 and went public on January 2014. They have both made a great name for themselves throughout the 1 year and 9 months they have been together. And their flourishing career is one of the reasons they've decided to go their separate ways.

Yoona has been spending a lot of time abroad for the previous months to film 'God of War Zhao Yun', a Chinese-period drama. She's also currently busy with the promotional activities for 'Party', the latest single release of Girls' Generation, and their upcoming album 'Lion Heart'.

Lee has also been caught up with the filming of 'Love Forecast', which premiered in January, and the promotion of his album, which was released in June. He also has a new movie, 'Match Made in Heaven', scheduled for shooting.

From the looks of it, both stars didn't have much time for each other. The rumors of a breakup emerged early this year, but they denied these. But the sign of an imminent split came when Yoona stated during a press conference for Channel Girls' Generation - the group's reality show - her group activities come before "personal matter".

A lot of fans may be shocked with this turnaround, while some may have expected it to happen. The best thing to do is to offer support or give them time to deal with the breakup.
