'Uncharted 4' Marks Drake's Final Mission; Release Date To Come With Limited Edition PS4

Game developer Naughty Dog has announced a release date for "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End," the final installment of the action-adventure series which will close main character Nathan Drake's final chapter on the PS4.

According to Alphr, the upcoming game will take place several years after the last installment, where Drake is a retired fortune hunter who reunites with his brother Sam.

The plot follows their hunt for the legendary treasure of Henry Avery, a real-life British pirate.

As per the publication, much of the game's drama will presumably come from Nathan's relationship with his brother and wife Elena Fisher, who isn't too fond of his decision to return to treasure hunting.

Naughty Dog has confirmed that the upcoming installment will be the last in the series, at least from the developer's perspective.

Lead game designer Robert Cogburn recently spoke about the challenges of continuing the game's story within the bounds of believability.

"These games are hard to make," Cogburn said in an interview with Kotaku. "Particularly with a character like Nathan Drake in a world that's fairly grounded, it's a challenge to consider how much more we can expand the universe while adhering to those sorts of rules."

However, there's still a possibility that series-owner Sony will renew the franchise as it is one of its best selling exclusives, although series director Neil Druckmann claims that it won't be an easy task.

"At the end of the day Sony owns Uncharted and they can do whatever they want," Druckmann said in a statement published by Eurogamer. "But with the end of this story, it will be really hard to do a sequel with Nathan Drake. Maybe there'll be a prequel, maybe it will be a different character - I don't know. But this is the end for Nathan Drake."

Sony will release an "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" bundle which will include a limited edition PS4 unit with a Nathan Drake print on April 29, 2016.

Stay tuned for more on "Uncharted 4's" release date on PS4 as information becomes available.
