Matt Healy Names 1975’s New Album From Ex-Girlfriend? Singer Says They Are Not Just 'White Guys With Guitars'
The name of the upcoming album of 1975 was reportedly inspired by the ex-girlfriend of band's frontman, Matt Healy.
Various reports suggested that 1975's second album, "I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It," is associated with Healy's relationship from his former lover.
"It was something I said to a girlfriend of mine at the time. Like all situations, I'm sure it wasn't quite as poetic as it sounds," Matt Healy told Rolling Stone.
"We had gone from an unknown band to known about so we were being objectified and known about. We were kind of fearful of certain things, and we made the decision that the only thing that was going to remedy that was to make a record that was just about the truth and not about what we thought we should be saying," he added.
Healy concluded, "because of that, I just decided early on that that was the name of the album for no other reason besides that I really liked it."
Though rumor has it that Matt Healy's relationship with the mysterious girlfriend ended not that great, reports say that the band prepared songs for their new album that reminisce the good times of Healy's past relationship.
On the other hand, Independent.co.uk shared that the 1975's frontman and his band do not want to be stereotyped when they were still starting.
"When you're white guys with guitars, people are gonna associate you with other white guys with guitars," Healy told the source above. "On our first album we got associated with bands like the Arctic Monkeys. I mean, I like them, but I couldn't imagine a less desirable comparison.
"For me it's so inaccurate. We've always had to fight against this indie thing," he added.
Matt Healy, together with his band 1975, is said to be surprising their fans with their new album which is somehow related to Healy's former girlfriend. The 1975's second album is set to be released on February 26.
