NBA draft 16's top prospect backs out

The date for NBA Draft 2016 won't come until after three months.

For some prospects wanting to play in the world's best basketball league, that is too far while for others, it gives them time to think about their decisions.

Take five-star recruit Jonathan Isaac for example. The 19-year-old has announced that he will not go straight from high school to the NBA via 2016 draft. Instead, he will play in college for Florida State University.

"After spending the weekend thinking, I concluded that the best decision for me is to enroll and pursue my education as well as my playing career at Florida State University," he said on his Twitter account.

"This is a definite and final decision and I am not interested in having any further discussions nor conversations about my future!"

This latest statement from prolific shooting guard contradicted the things he said back in November. Sports Illustrated revealed that it has been told by Isaac that he will join the NBA Draft 2016.

"Isaac, a 6'10" small forward from IMG (Fla.) Academy said in a phone interview that he expects to take advantage of a new rule that allows prospects to enter the NBA draft and return to college if they don't feel good about their projected draft position," Sports Illustrated wrote. "The new rule allows Isaac to participate in the NBA draft combine, hold an NBA workout and pull out of the draft without compromising his amateur standing at Florida State, where he's signed to play next season."

Isaac is one of the biggest prospects in the NBA draft 2016. He is ranked as the best player in Florida and is dubbed as the third best small forward in America. He is often compared to Kevin Durant for his athleticism, length, and play-making abilities.

NBA draft 2016 date is set on June 23 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
