Bill Cosby’s Wife Deposition On Husband’s Case Not Granted?
Hollywood's famous comedian, Bill Cosby, continues to be on the rocks with his law-suits saga.
As of now, various reports said that Cosby's wife Camille is requested to testify for his case against the seven women who accused the entertainer of sexual assault and defamation.
The defamation case that the seven women filed is said to be the aftermath of Cosby's public accusation towards the their party, which is branding them as liars.
After receiving the complaint, Cosby reacted about the allegation by filling a counter appeal of the same case against the seven ladies - Tamara Green, Therese Serignese, Linda Traitz, Louisa Moritz, Barbara Bowman, Joan Tarshis and Angela Leslie, Thinkprogress.org reported
"He alleges they engaged in a campaign to assassinate Mr. Cosby's reputation and character by willfully, maliciously, and falsely accusing Mr. Cosby of engaging in sexual misconduct in an opportunistic attempt to extract financial gain from their allegations," the source above added.
On the other hand, to go forward on the said law suits, lawyer of the seven accusers, Atty. Joe Cammarata requested Camille Cosby to take the stand and deposition herself for the case to be clarified.
The Hollywood Reporter reported that Cammarata's request was granted last December 31, 2015 when a magistrate judge issued a ruling to submit Camille Cost in deposition.
Although there were expectations that Mrs. Cosby will take the stand already, Bill Cosby's side re-examined the said request and just recently, U.S. District Judge Mark Mastroianni overruled some things that the magistrate judge decided.
"In law, there is something called spousal privilege, which in general means that husbands and wives don't have to testify about their communications with each other in criminal and civil cases," The Hollywood Reporter added.
As of now, there is no final decision yet if Cosby's wife will take the stand or not. People are now waiting if what would be the result of this law suits that the comedian is facing.
