For those who haven't seen the February 11 episode of "How To Get Away With Murder" season 2, it may be a good idea to stop reading now if you're not too fond of spoilers.
Because of what seems to be Annalise's noticable care for Wes Gibbins, there were earlier speculations that she could be the student's real mother, as previously reported by Bustle.
However, the last episode of the Shonda Rhimes crime-legal thriller showed new information about Annalise Keating's past. The last flashback showed a pregnant Annalise approaching Wes Gibbins' mother who was watching over a young Christophe.
"Even back in the pilot, Annalise told Wes she and Sam [Tom Verica] were trying to have kids," the show's executive producer Pete Nowalk told Entertainment Weekly. "That might've seemed like a lie back then, but now that we know she was actually pregnant 10 years earlier, this takes on new meaning."
"What happened to the child she was pregnant with?" Nowalk added. "Did this pregnancy alter her marriage with Sam forever? These are the central questions to the rest of this season. I will say this, the answers illuminate her relationship with Wes, and help us understand Annalise in a way we haven't before."
A separate report quoted Nowalk saying Viola Davis actually had a lot of input in putting up the "How To Get Away With Murder" season 2 mid-season premiere episode.
"She actually came up with this episode idea, beat by beat, and I wanted to kiss her every step of the way," Nowalk said, as quoted by Variety. "Because as a creator, you're exhausted all the time; you have no ideas; and here's someone giving you this path, this journey."
