'Blade Runner' Sequel To Be Darker Than Harrison Ford's Original Plot; Ryan Gosling's Character Still A Mystery

The “Blade Runner” sequel is in the works, and apparently, the plot will be darker than Harrison Ford's first film back in 1982. Under a new supervision and the addition of Ryan Gosling, the excitement for this film is now at its highest.

Slash Film reported that the sequel is targeting this summer to start it’s filming and with Denis Villeneuve replacing Ridley Scott as director, many fans are apparently interested on how the movie will turn out. Villeneuve is known for his intense films such as "Sicario" and "Prisoner". He is also reported to direct "Story of Us", a sci-fi movie starring Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner, which will be shown this year.

Scott will remain involved in the second film as an executive producer, Geek added. During the AFI Festival discussion, Scott reportedly hinted a blast from the past opening plot but with a darker twist.

“Blade Runner” sequel will have a tribute to the original blocking, Scott added. Harrison Ford as Rick Deckard is expected to introduce himself before shooting the replicant. However, instead of simply dying, “The Martian” director hinted on a possible fight sequence between Deckard and a 350-lb machine.

Besides the addition of Villeneuve and Ryan Gosling, Deadline wrote that Sony Pictures will have the movie rights, while the company has reportedly made a deal for overseas distribution rights with Alcon Entertainment. There are no other reported details provided.

The “Blade Runner” sequel starring Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling will officially begin production by July of this year.
