Despite its limitations, the Apple Watch went on becoming one of the most popular wearables last year with over 3.8 million units sold in Q2 only

However, that numero uno spot in the smart wear market worldwide has come under serious threat because of the growing popularity of rival wearables like the Samsung Galaxy S2 being a prime example of that.

Let's have a closer look at of the key Samsung Gear S2 3G specs and features and compare it with the Apple Watch to see which device suits your requirements better.

The biggest advantage of the Gear S2 3G is that it comes with a classic, circular face design along with two to three days of battery life, something that has wooed a lot of buyers away from the Apple Watch.

However, the fact that Samsung opted to go with its own Tizen OS platform instead of Google's iOS-compatible Android Wear could potentially turn off many.

While the Apple Watch comes in two variants, one with a 1.34-inch screen and the other with a 1.42-inch screen, the S2 3G is a lot smaller at just 1.2-inch screen and can be much more comfortable for those with smaller wrists.

The Apple Watch, despite having a larger screen, offers a higher resolution, 272 x 340p in the s 1.34-in variant and 312 x 390p in the 1.42-inch variant. Both devices use the same 326ppi.

Meanwhile, the Gear S2 3G brings you only 302ppi pixel density for its screen specs.

However, the SUPER AMOLED technology spec in the Gear S2 makes sure that outdoor visibility and contrast levels go really smooth on users' eyes.

In terms of design, the Gear S2 3G definitely has an edge with a circular design and a rotating bezel that allows easy access to notifications as well as apps.

On paper, the Samsung Gear S2 3G specs are as impressive as that of the Apple Watch. While the latter comes equipped with an S1 processor powered by the Watch OS, the Gear S2 brings you a Dual-core 1GHz processor with Tizen OS.

Samsung recently promised Gear S2 iOS compatibility. However, users will have to wait for some time before it becomes a reality.

As of now, the device is compatible with the flagships in the Samsung Galaxy line-up.

Compared to that, the Apple Watch is currently compatible with only the iPhone 6, iPhone 5S, 5C and 4 Plus.

The Apple Watch's 400mAH battery is bigger than the Galaxy S2 3G's 300mAH.

But Samsung claims that with two-days worth battery life, the device can easily outshine any other wearable in its league.
