Demi Lovato's Latest Instagram Pic Amuses Fans; Singer Posts ‘Barney’ Days Throwback
Demi Lovato's recent Instagram post amused her fans, as the "Cool for the Summer" shared a throwback photo from her "Barney" days.
The image uploaded by the actress earlier this week showed a younger and chubbier version of her playing a trumpet. Demi Lovato's Instagram followers quickly commented about how they remember the hit children's series, where she played the role of Angela.
"She was my favorite on that show!" one fan wrote.
"I always saw you on Barney when I was a child," another person commented. "This is why Barney was the best show ever!"
Prior to Demi Lovato's Instagram throwback, the singer-actress previously shared in Cosmopolitan's August 2013 issue how she was secretly struggling while filming "Barney."
The 23-year-old has long been open about her struggles with depression, bipolar disorder and an eating disorder. However, Demi Lovato confessed that her personal issues began very early on in her career.
"I was so grateful to be on TV, but I was also really struggling," she said.
"Looking back, there was a connection, probably between any kid who's ever sang that song to Barney, a little place in a child's heart, a void, that could be filled. And maybe Barney fills it."
"Even before Barney, I was suicidal. I was 7. With Barney, I guess subliminally, I did have a relationship with this figure that was saving my life in a way," Demi Lovato added.
The former Disney Talent also revealed that she started to habitually cut herself as a "coping mechanism."
"I've talked about being bullied and the years of being a teenager, but I went through things when I was younger that I've never talked about that probably caused me to turn out the way I ended up turning out," Demi Lovato explained.
In an 2013 interview with Access Hollywood, the actress narrated how she realized that her addictions have gone too far.
"I couldn't go 30 minutes to an hour without cocaine and I would bring it on airplanes," Demi Lovato admitted.
