'Outlander' Stars Sam Heughan And Caitriona Balfe On-Screen Romance To Become RealAs Season 2 Airs?

Jamie and Claire's on-screen romance is one of the reasons why people have been watching "Outlander" from the start. It is why televiewers have been excited when the show has been renewed for season 2. Is there a chance that Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe's friendship will develop?

"Outlander" season 1 has ended dramatically where Jamie played by Sam Heughan was assaulted brutally by Black Jack Rendall played by Tobias Menzies. Claire played by Catriona Balfe is pregnant and the sudden mishaps in their lives will put their marriage into a test.

"Season 2 has been about discovering a side of the character I didn't know was there," Heughan said, Inquisitr reported. "He's playing someone else - he's learning to be quite deceptive, and he does it very well."

According to new reports, the experiences of Jamie will affect his treatment towards his wife which will lead to misunderstandings and will have a difficult effect on Claire's unexpected pregnancy.

Heughan has opened up a few details regarding the couple's marriage in season 2.

"Claire is pregnant, and Jamie is suffering from the trauma of season one and what happened to him at the end. So their relationship is in a very strange place now. The honeymoon is kind of over," Heughan said in an interview, Scotland Now quoted. "But that doesn't mean they won't get back there. They have a lot going on and they're working on their relationship. Their relationship is less innocent and young. It's now more grown up."

Balfe also believes that the characters of Jamie and Claire will surpass the trials in their marriage.

"They're a very passionate couple. That will always be a part of their relationship," Balfe said.

Scotland Now reported that the cast and crew of "Outlander" is working on season 2 in Scotland. Jamie and Claire will be working hard to change the course of history in Paris to stop Jacobite from rising and by finding Bonnie Prince Charlie.

Meanwhile, fans have been wondering if the co-star's friendship has a chance to turn into a real one.

"Sam and Caitriona were taking a short break between scenes when I saw them off to the side, holding hands and Sam was even whispering in her ear," an insider claimed, Inquisitr reported. "She was laughing at whatever he said and well, they looked like an ordinary couple."

Catriona Balfe and Sam Heughan are yet to respond to the new dating reports that are making rounds recently. "Outlander" season 2 will be premiering in early spring this year.
