Rockstar North Working On 'Red Dead Redemption 2' Release Date First Instead Of 'GTA 6'?

"Red Dead Redemption 2" is a highly anticipated game whose release date is yet to be announced by game developer Rockstar.

The company has been working on the sequel for almost five years, but work on "GTA 6" has reportedly been causing delays to its release date. 

However, recent reports state that open-world western will finally be unveiled this year.

According to Express UK, "Red Dead Redemption 2" will be launched at E3 2016 and will be made available on PS4 and XBox One in October. 

The site added that Rockstar's parent label Take-Two has confirmed that the game is a permanent title and will continue to have new installments like their popular "Grand Theft Auto" franchise.

"I pretty much know the ones that I can assure you are permanent," Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said in a statement last year. "It's obvious that GTA is a permanent franchise as long as we keep delivering this incredible quality; it seems quite obvious that Red Dead is a permanent franchise, again with the same caveat, or Borderlands, for example, and NBA and others."

As per the publication, "Red Dead Redemption 2" will bear the subtitle "Legends of the Old West," and will focus on two characters called Seth and Irish.

Many are already speculating about "Red Dead Redemption 2's" setting. Previous reports stated that it will be set in Japan, but many believe that it will still take place in the Old West and will feature new states, namely Arizona, Colorado, Utah and Louisiana.

"Red Dead Redemption" was launched to critical acclaim. Rockstar has sold more than 13 million copies of the game since they released it in 2010. It has earned some of the best reviews from critics, including IGN and Metacritic.

"Red Dead Redemption 2" will be launched in October although producers have yet to announce an exact release date.
