‘Dragon Ball Xenoverse’ Sales Skyrockets To 3.13 Million Copies Sold; Sequel Releasing Soon?
Bandai Namco announced that it has sold over 3.13 million copies of "Dragon Ball Xenoverse" worldwide, as rumors of a sequel persist.
As of February, "Dragon Ball Xenoverse" has shipped over 1,780,000 and 1,050,000 in North America and Europe, respectively. Meanwhile, it only sold 230,000 copies in Japan and 60,000 in Asia, Famitsu reported.
The recorded sales was said to include both digital and soft copies of the game.
With the huge success of the franchise, there's no doubt that Bandai Namco is set to develop a sequel, according to Attack of the Fanboy.
Last year, "Dragon Ball Xenoverse" sequel leaked through an image from Area Jugones which claimed that the game will arrive in June.
However, the authenticity of the leaked details is uncertain as gaming portals have pointed out that there are loopholes on the image.
Yibada pointed out that the image used an old logo of the PlayStation Network although Sony has already made some changes in previous firmware update. Next, it said, the use of "June, 2016" as release date is "quite unusual."
"Also, there is a comma placed between June and 2016 which is quite unusual. A user on Neogaf.com's forum pointed out that due to this comma in the release date, this can be a fake," the news site added.
So far, Bandai Namco has not shared its plan on creating "Dragon Ball Xenoverse" sequel.
The game is currently available on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4 and PS3 consoles with its three paid dlc completing the Season Pass.
The "DBZ" franchise received its "Resurrection of F" dlc last year that brought Frieza's Golden Form's playable character as well as Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Goku and Vegeta.
In addition, Gohan's green tracksuit, as shown in the movie, as well as Tagoma's Scouter were added on the dlc along with Jaco from "Jaco the Patrolmand" and the Old Kai as mentors.
The dlc has a total of 13 new skills and 7 new Z-souls along with new parallel quests, ShonenGamez reported.
