2016 Jeep Wrangler Unveiled; Boasts Diesel Treatment And Hybrid Powertrains, Official Launch Soon
The 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited was recently unveiled in India with its official launch date believed to be sometime in mid-2016. The SUV will be available in a 4-door version only.
The vehicle has an official dimension of 1,877 mm wide, 4,571 mm long and 1,840 mm tall. The SUV has a wheelbase of 2,947 mm along with 17-inch wheels, a removable door and roof which sets it as a one of a kind car, according to Indian Autos Blog.
The new Jeep Wrangler Unlimited will be available in both petrol and diesel engine models.
"That vehicle is the highest demand vehicle we have. The plant is at maximum capacity. They build as many as they sell," said Ralph Sellers Dodge Chrysler Jeep & Ram general sales manager David Chambers per The Advocate.
The petrol version of the 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited sports a 3.6-liter V6 which is capable of outputting 275 horsepower and 359 lb-foot worth of torque. On the other hand, the diesel version has a 2.8-liter turbocharged engine with 197 horsepower and 251 lb-foot torque.
The new Jeep Wrangler also sports some high-tech features like the Electronic Roll Mitigation, Command-Trac Shift-On-The-Fly 4WD and Hill Start Assist.
The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited is available in both automatic and manual transmission. It has a six-speed manual gearbox and five-speed automatic transmission.
Jeep engineers have designed the 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited in such a way that the SUV's oil pump can serve the engine fully even at extreme vehicle angles. Moreover, the alternator is located high in the engine compartment in order to make sure that it won't be submerged when the car crosses deep waters.
EPA mileage estimates that the vehicle can deliver 16 mpg for city, 20 mpg for highway and 18 mpg combined. On a full tank, the Wrangler Unlimited can traverse 450 miles on highway.
The 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited has a base price of $33,295.
