'Gran Turismo 7' Creator Kazunori Yamauchi Says Premium Car List Will Represent 'Modern-Day Racing'
Racing fans and gamers have been patiently waiting for the release of "Gran Turismo 7," but it seems that Polyphony Digital has yet to announce an exact release date for the next installment to the long-running PlayStation exclusive franchise.
The Japan-based developer is keeping details about the game under wraps, although game creator Kazunori Yamauchi has previously stated that it will feature massive improvements and will have an increased premium car list.
"I doubt we'll be throwing away the standard cars," Yamauchi told Eurogamer in 2014. "So I think we'll hang on to the archive. In the meanwhile, some of those cars we may be able to make into premium cars as they become available - but basically we're more focused on increasing the number of premium cars."
Fans were expecting "Gran Turismo 7's" release date to be announced this year based on the comments of Yamauchi who teased that the elusive seventh installment will feature a car list that will represent modern-day racing.
According to Master Herald, the new premium cars won't replace the cars that are currently listed, but will just add on to them.
However, if Polyphony Digital is creating a title with cars from 2015 and 2016 but plans on launching it beyond 2017, the game would no longer represent modern-day racing.
Despite the delays, Yamauchi reassures gamers that the improvements on the next installment will be worth the wait.
"I think the quality of the sounds in 'Gran Turismo 6' will be improved, but most of the work will be done in 'Gran Turismo 7,'" Yamauchi explained. "The high quality of data that we have been rendered on the PS4, I think is going to make an incredible difference."
Stay tuned for more information on "Gran Turismo 7" car list details as updates become available.
