‘Gilmore Girls’ Reunion Dissed By Fans? Melissa McCarthy Snub Slammed By Disappointed Followers
The "Gilmore Girls" reunion is being dissed by fans who are disappointed that Melissa McCarthy was allegedly snubbed to be part of the show's return.
The "Bridesmaid" actress, who played Sookie St. James in the hit CW dramedy, was asked on her Twitter page about the recently confirmed revival.
"Please come back to Stars Hollow!" one follower posted.
Fans got shocked when the comedienne replied that she was not even asked to be part of the highly anticipated "Gilmore Girls" reunion.
"Thanks for the invite, but sadly no one asked me or Sookie to come back to Stars Hollow," Melissa McCarthy revealed. "I wish them all the best!!
Comments of dismayed fans then began to pour in.
"That is a gross oversight," one commenter wrote. "Honestly would not be the same without you. I'm legitimately bummed."
"No Sookie, no Gilmore Girls!" another fan commented. "It's not the same without Sookie!"
Some gave speculations about why Melissa McCarthy was allegedly not approached for the comeback.
"They probably thought you were either too busy in feature films or way out of their price range," someone posted.
According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, creator Amy Sherman-Palladino assured fans that they would "properly explain" Sookie's absence from the show.
Prior to the confirming the comeback, Movie News Guide reported about how Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos dropped hints about the show's return.
"I can't tell you much about Gilmore Girls," he explained while at the Television Critics Association winter press tour in Pasadena last January.
"We're still working on buttoning down everything before our announcements."
E! Online also reported about how actress Lauren Graham, who played lead star Lorelai Gilmore, was hounded on social media about the comeback.
"I can't confirm this, but I also can't deny this," she tweeted amid rumors about the "Gilmore Girls" reunion.
