Fans were deeply disappointed when they heard that the anticipated collaboration between Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro's "Silent Hills" was eventually cancelled by Konami.

However, there might still be a glimpse of hope for all fanboys out there as the two have confirmed that, despite the cancellation of the release date of "Silent Hills," they will be working on a new project, IGN reported.

"I love working with Kojima-san," the acclaimed filmmaker said in an interview. "We are still in touch. We are still friends and working on doing something together, but that's not going to be 'Silent Hills.'"

In the same interview, del Toro went on to elaborate what he and Hideo Kojima had intended for "Silent Hills" to be despite the cancelled release date, wherein they tried to push the boundaries of the latest gaming consoles and allow the game to actually interact with its users.

"We were talking about really pushing the boundaries of the new consoles, and making the game really mess with your head," Guillermo del Toro explained. "One of the great moments in 'Metal Gear Solid' was Psycho Mantis. The idea that a game can actually interact with you, and stuff like that."

Meanwhile, it was recently reported by Gamespot that both the acclaimed director and game designer will be providing their keynotes at the 2016 D.I.C.E. Summit this month in Las Vegas, a session called "A Conversation with Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro."

The source noted that the keynote will be compelling as the two will be recounting some of the pinnacle moments of their careers, respectively.

"This conversation will revisit some of their fondest memories from their own individual careers as well as some of the pivotal moments from each other's work that remain a constant source of inspiration," as detailed in the event's description.

Although fans won't see the light of day regarding the release date of del Toro and Hideo Kojima's "Silent Hills," gamers can rest assure that the two are still in touch with each other.
