Melissa McCarthy Uninvited To 'Gilmore Girls' Revival But May Appear For Cameo?

"Gilmore Girls" revival created quite an excitement among fans but many were quite disappointed after knowing that Melissa McCarthy is not part of the returning cast. Reportedly, the "Spy" star was not invited to join the well-loved series.
McCarthy posted on her Twitter account, "Thanks for the invite, but sadly no one asked me or Sookie to come back to Stars Hollow. Wish them all the best."
In an interview with TV Line as shared by Huffington Post, Amy Sherman-Palladino said that Melissa McCarthy has been very busy recently. This has reportedly made it difficult for her to reprise her iconic "Gilmore Girls" role.
But the recent tweet form McCarthy seemed to rebut the claim that her schedule was the issue.
However according to EW, Sherman-Palladino assured "Gilmore Girls" and Melissa McCarthy fans that they would very much love to have the actress on the series should her schedule permit.
According to news, the absence of Sookie, who is the main character Lorelai Gilmore's best friend, will be properly explained in the upcoming revival.
On the other hand, some fans are hoping that the show's executives and the actress can work on a deal in order to bring back Sookie into the reboot. For many fans, her character plays a vital role in the show and a revival will not be complete or authentic without her.
With the cast and crew having started filming only last Tuesday, many hope that the deal would soon be made to ensure that their well-loved character of Melissa McCarthy will be seen once again in "Gilmore Girls."
The show's revival is being produced by online streaming company Netflix, along with Warner Bros. Television. No release date has been announced yet but it was confirmed that producers have agreed on a four-part revival of the show.
