Taron Egerton Reveals 'Kingsman 2' Villain! Release Date All Set Next Year
Following a surprising box-office sucess director Matthew Vaughn's "Kingsman: The Secret Service" is reportedly getting a sequel.
Taron Egerton is reportedly reprising his role as Eggsy in the follow-up as a full-fledged Kingsman agent.
While promoting his latest film "Eddie the Eagle" with Collider, the 26-year-old breakout star teased the sequel's antagonist, which he described as a villain who could rival Samuel L. Jackson's Valentine.
"We have a villain to rival Samuel L. Jackson - this new one is so brilliantly written I wish I could play it. It's amazing," he revealed of the new "Kingsman 2" movie.
The Briton also gave an update to the new film's production start date.
"With Kingsman, we're shooting in the summer at present," he said. "There's a script, it's brilliant. Obviously, there's only so much I can say but what I can say is that we shot [the first] one all in the U.K., that won't be the case with the next one."
Taron Egerton had previously confirmed the production of "Kingsman 2" had begun on the follow-up in preparation for filming this summer.

While Taron Egerton is confirmed to reprise his role, Colin Firth's involvement in the sequel is still unclear.
Many are unaware that "X-Men: First Class" director Matthew Vaughn dropped out of "Days of Future Past" to develop his R-rated "Kingsman: The Secret Service."
While many thought it was a gamble to make the film with an R-rating, the colorful spy comedy became one of last year's most enjoyable films, with a worldwide gross of $410 million.
Now, Vaughn is set to return to his directorial chair to helm "Kingsman 2."
"Kingsman: The Secret Service" is based on a comic book series titled "The Secret Service" created by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons.
Taron Egerton appears next in "Eddie The Eagle," which arrives on February 26.
"Kingsman 2" will be released in US theaters on June 16, 2017.
