Corey Taylor To Start Recording Albums With Stone Sour And Slipknot In 2016?
In October 2014, Slipknot released their fifth studio album, ".5: The Gray Chapter."
Now, reports are claiming that the nine-piece heavy metal outfit is ready to record another album in 2016.
In an interview with The Irish Times, frontman Corey Taylor explained he didn't want the group to stay idle in between releases.
"It was the musical equivalent of letting go of that long-held breath," Taylor, 42, said referring to the six-year gap between 2008's "All Hope Is Gone" and 2014's ".5: The Gray Chapter."
"Six years, you might as well retire at that point," he added. "It is just not that kind of world we live in anymore."
Taylor also mentioned that there are already talks of a new album.
"We're talking about it," the "Psychosocial" singer said about releasing another record. "We don't want to rush right in and do anything. Now that we have told this story that we wanted to tell, we're definitely thinking about it. Time will tell."
Guitarist Mick Thomson fueled rumors of a new album even further after echoing Taylor's statements in an interview with Music Radar.
"We don't want to spend the same amount of time between albums as we've done with the last two," he said.
While Slipknot fans will be excited over the possibility of the group returning to the studio, many are wondering about what will happen to Taylor's other band, Stone Sour.
Taylor revealed that he's also recording material with the group, even if they're on "a sort of a hiatus at the moment."
"We've been recording a couple of cover EPs that we've been talking about for a long time," he said. "We figured it would be the best time to do it. We finished the first six songs and we've got another seven that we're working on right now. We're doing it at a nice slow clip."
Will Slipknot release a new album in 2016? Stay tuned as updates become available.
