NBA Trade Rumors: Blake Griffin Heads To Either Los Angeles Lakers Or New York Knicks?
A recently surfaced NBA trade rumor claims that the Los Angeles Lakers are planning to acquire power forward Blake Griffin from its rival organization, the Los Angeles Clippers.
There are rumors claiming that should the Clippers let Griffin go, there are two possible landing spots for him: the Lakers or the New York Knicks.
Between the two teams, the Lakers have the resources to acquire Griffin, who will quickly emerge as the main man especially since Kobe Bryant is playing his last season with the team.
The Los Angeles Lakers are desperate to find another superstar to replace the retiring Bryant, who is slowed down by age and injury for the past couple of years.
If the NBA trade rumors are true, Blake Griffin is expected to take over the team composed of very young players like Jordan Clarkson, Julius Randle and D'Angelo Russell. He will also serve as a marquee name in order to attract superstar free agents such as Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant.
Regarded as one of the best young players of the league, Griffin recently injured his hand when he punched the equipment manager during an altercation.
The superstar suffered a spiral fracture of the fourth metacarpal in his right hand. Medical reports claim that he will be out by up to two months, depending on his recovery.
In a statement acquired by Inquisitr, Celtics coach Doc Rivers said, "He[Griffin] feels awful about it, and he's let everyone know that. That's all you can do. You have to forgive people at some point. I believe that. We built Richard Nixon a library. I mean, my goodness. You forgive people. You really do. You kind of move on, and you built it back."
The Los Angeles Clippers are investigating the incident and hope to impose some sanctions depending on the results.
Griffin has been out of the game since December with a torn tendon in his left quadriceps and was assessed to be nearly healed. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Clippers hardly lost stride as they kept on winning.
Other NBA trade rumors also point to a possible Knicks acquisition of Griffin. However, the squad is also rumored to be entertaining trade propositions for Carmelo Anthony.
According to SB Nation, sports analysts believe that should the Griffin-Anthony trade take place, it will be beneficial for everyone involved in the deal.
