That kid will not be Gretchen's and Jimmy's though. As seen in the finale, it is Lindsay's (Kether Donohue) and her husband.
Latest "You're the Worst" Season 3 spoilers from series creator Stephen Falk revealed that this plot will be instantly addressed once they return.
Lindsay may be hell-bent in winning back Paul, but her latest predicament could be something she does not really want.
"Getting her power turned back on, it was empowering. I didn't mean that as a pun," Falk said of Lindsay during an interview with Variety. "She was able to come to a place where she made a decision with Paul out of some sort of thought and some sort of maturity, which was a big step for her."
Falk also offered what Lindsay's situation will be like when "You're of the Worst" resumes.
"We are going to start from [her final season two] moment - that moment of regret - and see what choices the newly enlightened Lindsay will make now that she has her lumpy hubby back."
As for the main couple, Jim and Gretchen's story will start at the very moment they realized they love each other.
"Right now we will start season three literally right after that scene [where Gretchen tells Jimmy she loves him]," Falk said when asked by E! Online to give season 3 spoilers for "You're the Worst."
"I think time jumps are useful for certain shows, but it feels like a later season thing when you want to mix stuff up. ...We thought it would be interesting to start with 'I love you' and literally see what happens when they walk back into the house."
"You're the Worst" was renewed for season 3 in December last year. Tune in for more spoilers ahead of the release date which could be in the third or fourth quarter of 2016.
