NBA Trade Rumors: Cavs Work On A Deal To Get Chris Paul In Exchange For Kyrie Irving?
As the NBA trade deadline slowly looms, rumors about major deals between teams involving the league's biggest stars are brewing. The latest to surface on the mill involves Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul who is allegedly being negotiated to be traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange of Kyrie Irving.
The Clippers is currently in a stable playoff position in the Western Conference with a record of 29-16.
However, the biggest question still looms: how will the Clippers withstand the threat put forward by the currently unstoppable Golden State Warriors and the age-defying San Antonio Spurs? On top of those two titans is the unending threat of the Oklahoma City Thunders.
Some analysts agree that for Clippers to succeed in the highly contested Western Conference, they need to make some major overhaul on its lineup.
The Clippers are facing one of the most intense struggle in its hope of making it to the NBA Finals. The team recently lost Blake Griffin to an injury. The highflying superstar is out for the next four to six weeks due to a broken hand, according to Inquisitr.
Considering Griffin's injury calendar, he should be able to return in time for the playoffs. The main struggle for the Clippers now is how to make it there.
In its hopes of improving the team's lineup, NBA trade rumors claim that the Clippers organization is allegedly accepting trade propositions for Chris Paul. Talks have it that the Clippers is targeting another ace guard, Cavs' Kyrie Irving.
Kevin Pelton of ESPN wrote, "Chris Paul's age (30) and the desire of owner Steve Ballmer and coach Doc Rivers to win a championship have combined to produce a sense of urgency for the Clippers."
On the other hand, some sports analysts are skeptical whether the said NBA trade rumors involving Paul and Irving will be beneficial to the Cavs and Clippers.
