The Hulk has been playing second fiddle to other superheroes in the "Avengers" saga, but it was recently revealed by Mark Ruffalo that the green, mean monster will play much bigger roles in upcoming Marvel movies.

Apparently, Marvel is planning major arcs for Hulk in the upcoming "Thor: Ragnarok" in 2017, and the two-installment "Avengers: Infinity War" in 2018 and 2019.

But don't expect another standalone film for the Hulk.

"I'd love to do a Hulk movie, but that's beyond my control," said Ruffalo in an interview, as reported by Vine Report.

"It's controlled by Universal. Marvel doesn't even hold the rights to it. So, it's not on the horizon. And I don't know if it will be. But we've worked a really interesting arc into 'Thor 3,' 'Avengers 3' and '4' for Banner that I think will - when it's all added up - will feel like a Hulk movie, a standalone movie," said Ruffalo.

With that said, the Hulk will probably be working with other Marvel's Avengers characters to fight against Mad Titan, Thanos, in "Avengers: Infinity War" part 1 and 2.

Moreover, considering that "Thor: Ragnarok" has the elements of a typical 1980s road-buddy movie, the arc story of the "Planet Hulk/World War Hulk" might come into picture, according to Inquisitr.

Ruffalo also weighed in about Joss Whedon, director of "The Avengers" and "Avengers: Age of Ultron," leaving the franchise.

"I will miss him. He cracked this character, he obviously cracked the Avengers which was nearly impossible. It was a miracle and he did it so beautifully," said Ruffalo, as reported by Epic Stream.

Ruffalo stated that he was surprised when Whedon announced his departure. What the Hulk star thought "was like 'goddamn it, you dragged me in to this world and now you're abandoning me here!'"

With "Thor: Ragnarok" hitting theaters in 2017 and "Avengers: Infinity War" installments in 2018 and 2019, it will be interesting to see the Hulk storyline will be tackled in the much bigger Marvel universe.
