Pokémon 20th Anniversary: Brand Unveils Super Bowl Ad Motivating Young People
The Pokémon brand was launched in 1996, and this year it is celebrating its 20th anniversary. As part of the celebration, Nintendo recently released an advertisement that will air in the upcoming Super Bowl event.
Several reports claim that Nintendo is throwing an extravagant anniversary event for the Pokémon brand. Part of this is the million-dollar Super Bowl ad that runs for about a minute.
The ad is unlike any other Pokémon commercial that Nintendo released in the past. Reportedly, it is very inspirational and evokes a certain aura of motivation.
The Super Bowl ad in line with Pokémon's 20th anniversary centers on motivating young people to pursue their dreams and become the very best in that field. The commercial's theatrical background music also adds drama to it.
On the commercial, one of the teenage kids pursue his dream and became a world chess champion. Another one motivated his football team to give everything they had in order to win.
According to The Independent, the epitome of the ad, in a grand Pokémon fashion, is a scene of a packed stadium where a player stands in the middle of the field holding a pokeball. The player looks unfazed in the midst of impending peril as he is facing powerful Pokémons including Mega Lucario, Magneton, Charizard and Gyarados.
But the Super Bowl ad noticeably does not advertise any particular Pokémon product. Instead, the commercial ends with a very inspiring slogan that reads "Train On," before it cuts to the Pokémon 20th anniversary logo.
Despite the absence of any product endorsement in its latest ad, the Pokémon Company, along with Nintendo, have a lot of merchandise to release this year.
According to BBC, these include the release of a new Nintendo 3DS bundle and a reissue of first three versions of Pokémon - Red, Blue and Yellow. Nintendo will also release rare Pokémon amiibos this year as well as all the Pokémon feature films.
